Research credits
One wallet, two surfaces. Credits power the Research Agent (Light: Simple 5, Standard 10, Deep 50; Smart, paid-only from 240+ balance: Simple 25, Standard 50, Deep 250) and the Public API (deterministic by route: 1 credit for a single entity, 5–15 for a list, 20 for all four indices, 50 for the timeline — full table at /api). Every request is charged after the fact, no confirmation prompt. New accounts start with 20 welcome credits for the Agent only — the API is paid from the first call.

What credits open
- Research Agent — natural-language queries over the catalog, methods, indices, and wiki. Light 5 / 10 / 50 (Simple / Standard / Deep). Smart 25 / 50 / 250, paid users only, from a balance of 240+ credits.
- Public API v1 — the same catalog as JSON over HTTP, for scripts and pipelines. Single entity 1 credit; list 5–15 credits (by returned row count, capped); all four indices 20; delisted-model timeline 50. Every response echoes its
cost and credits_remaining. Rate-limited to 60 requests / minute per key. Get a key at /shop/account#api-keys.
- Welcome credits are Agent-only. A brand-new account can try one Simple and one Standard Agent query for free, or two Simple, before deciding whether to buy. The API refuses unpaid callers with
HTTP 402 api_requires_paid from the first request.
How it works
- Credits are valid for 12 months from the purchase date - we email you 30 days before any credits expire, so nothing is ever lost silently
- Larger packs give better per-credit rates
- Charged after the answer / after the response, no confirmation prompt. Balance visible on your account page, and in every API response envelope.
- Payment is one-time, no subscription
- Every purchase is confirmed by email (Stripe receipt on the day of purchase)
- Credits are non-refundable once purchased - try the Agent free tier first. If something went wrong, write to us and we'll look at it individually.
