The deployment
A documented production system (ASIF) in which two autonomous Claude Code agents govern 18 software projects across two machines through a 7-layer stack: zero-friction permissions, extended reasoning, heartbeat activation, arousal-based mode selection, a trust-gated 4-tier decision matrix, general delegation, and parallelizable task structure. Atop it: a 23-principle constitution across 3 override tiers, a file-based directive protocol that survives process death and machine reboots, and an inverted Constitutional AI methodology that extracts principles from a 54-decision precedent corpus.
Contributions (three patterns + one methodology)
- Portfolio-scale federated governance — multi-project, multi-machine directive propagation that prior single-system frameworks identify as an open gap.
- The 7-layer Autonomy Enablement Stack as a concrete configuration pattern (presented without ablation evidence — stated plainly).
- A federated file-based Directive Protocol requiring no message broker, shared runtime DB, or workflow engine — coordination via git remotes + cron.
- The inverted Constitutional AI methodology.
A single production observation (a four-project cleanup at ≈2.1× vs an estimated, not measured sequential counterfactual) illustrates the patterns in operation — documentation, not evidence for the theoretical claim. Positioned as a workshop/preprint contribution.
